A Storm Brewing

Gray and Gold by John Rogers Cox

I love this painting, the contrast, rigid form--it all comes together to make a bold statement.

A Storm Brewing

Gray armored thunder crossing ways
Deafening roars of discontent
darkening golden sunny days
Gray armored thunder crossing ways
lingering intending wishing to stay
locomotion madness malcontent
Gray armored thunder crossing ways
Deafening roars of discontent

Oh coool... I love that painting!

And "gray armored thunder", repeated like that, sounds... thunder-y. I like this!!

oh and "lingering intending wishing to stay" Yeah, that works for me really well to describe the way a thinder storm sort of... you know... hangs around, goes away, comes back... gets faint, then loud again...

  3. The bold contrast makes for an eye-catching painting! I love the colors, remind me of summer! Yes we've had quite a lot of loud thunder with our summer storms haven't we! Some were quite deafening! Your poem depicts the photo well! :)

  4. Jo, wonderfully descriptive as always. I like the crossroads depicted in the painting..not certain whether the artist intended any sybolism by it, but I suppose it can in my version anyhow.

  6. JO, I'm having problems with posting a comment. I tried twice yesterday with no success, so if this attempt doesn;t work I'll e-mail you. This is a very strong work, justifying tour take on the painting and showing the same intensity of the gathering of the storm. It also contained the starkness expected of a storm's anticipation... a new dimension to your work. Well done!
