Sweet Goodbye
Purity rings in white bell droplets
with farewell words that float
like doves.
And you turn your face away
to view more verdant meadows
playing fresh spring music...
leaving me behind.

This is beautiful Jo. My Lily of the Valley is just beginning to blossom here in the North and when they're gone so is spring!
ReplyDeleteShirley, I know. They go so fast. We get ours in May and they're only around for a week or two.
ReplyDeleteI really like this, Jo... even for someone who knows jack about lilies of the valley, because the extended metaphor of purity makes it universal. Lovely...
ReplyDeleteThank you, Bob!
ReplyDeleteword choice--perfect
ReplyDeleteJo, if asked for the name of my favorite flower, I'd have a difficult time naming just one, but Lily of the Valley would be a close competitor. By the way, I liked the story of the "chess people". Quite original.
ReplyDeleteScot, thank you! Kind words as always...
ReplyDeleteMary, thank you! It is my favorite and also the flower for my birthday month, May. They're just so small, sweet, and distinctive. I'm glad you like my chess people. I was a little worried it might be over the top. lol.
