Pigs by Pablo Picasso
And Farmer John Smiled
Gluttony splashed with dirty water,
everyday celebration
in corn fed jubilee,
pigs in a barnyard, sloppy smiles
mud-slicked playfulness
wrapped in harmony
with waste and wallow extraordinaire
flung from rusty pails
groping, gorging gleefully
stuffing, delirious, mesmerized
like fast-food zombies
in satiated ecstasy.

Jo, you paint a picture with your words...loved the final lines, "mesmerized like fast-food zombies in satiated ecstasy"
ReplyDeleteI agree with Dan those are my favorite lines too! Be cool to be a pig, and act like one for a change!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you guys got my drift about pigs--Oink! Oink!
ReplyDeleteJo, you managed to make wallowing in the mud sound like an art form! Love it!
ReplyDeletethat's America
ReplyDeleteWow! Two more perspectives--art form vs. American gluttony! What a contrast! Those pigs are tricky...
ReplyDeleteyep--last two my favorite--once raised pigs--always happy
ReplyDeleteScot, you raised pigs? You should write a book called From Pigs to Poetry. Er..sorry about that!
ReplyDeleteJo, I'd say you've been around a few open-air, plenty-of-mud-in-one-corner of a pig sty. There isn't a happier animal on the farm than a few pigs living in pig-heaven. Now, how am I supposed to enjoy my next pork chop or BTL sandwich?

ReplyDeleteMary,
ReplyDeleteGobble them up! The pigs would want you to. It's what they would do. lol.
